Hunza G’s swimsuits have a lot going for them — fun colors, cute cuts and an overall timeless look. But there’s one aspect that we just had to test for ourselves: the brand’s one-size-fits-most offering.
I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that when it comes to one-size clothing, there are two options: a miraculous “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” moment when you find out that one size can actually fit you and your friends, or an internal meltdown when the piece doesn’t work. As for, one-size swimwear? Forget about it!
So, to see if these bathing suits are truly one-size-fits-most, I rounded up a group of Underscored editors and staff to try a bikini and a one-piece. There were six testers in total (myself included), identifying as sizes 4 through 14 and a range of body types. One of us is also six-months pregnant, so she has a baby bump to accommodate too.
Going into the testing, I’ll admit we were all skeptical. But now it’s safe to say that the swimsuits did, in fact, fit each of us, and some of us even found our new favorite swimsuit. Read on to get the scoop on Hunza G’s special One Size swimwear and whether it’s worth the luxury price tag.

What we liked about the Hunza G swimsuits
One size actually fit all of us
Each of us were genuinely surprised that both bathing suits fit. Off the body, the suits look disproportionate to any adult clothing sizes. As one of us noted in Slack when they unpacked theirs, “My bikini top looks like it would fit a doll.” Indeed, the bikini top and bottom look remarkably small, while the one-piece has a distinct triangular shape with a wide top and tiny bottom. But we gave them the benefit of the doubt, slipped them on and discovered that they not only fit us but even looked flattering.
The suits didn’t dig in or fit weird as we expected them to. Instead, they stretched and hugged our bodies. Both the bikini and one-piece fit like a glove and provided ample coverage. Some of us struggle with shopping for bikini sets because we have different proportions on top and bottom, but that wasn’t an issue with Hunza G’s swimsuits. The tester who is pregnant says she considers it a win that she is comfortable with the overall fit of both styles.
“As someone who is on the larger end of the 10 to 14 midsize range, I was not expecting either of these suits to fit me at all and was pleasantly surprised when trying them on,” another editor adds.
Hunza G Square-Neck Swim One-Piece
Across our size range, we had a positive experience with the suits, but we’re still wary about the limitations of One Size swimwear. The brand’s website says that its single size is intended to fit sizes 2 through 12. This certainly includes a wide range of bodies but also excludes many too. Considering the average dress size of women in the US is 18 to 20, we think it would make sense to have another flexible size offered to expand the range.
The unique material
The textured material of the suits, officially called Original Crinkle, is the key to their one-size construction. (Fun fact: The brand is responsible for Julia Roberts’ iconic blue-and-white cutout dress in “Pretty Woman,” made from the same crinkle fabric as its swimwear.) The impressive stretch is built into the fabric, which, according to the brand, features over 9 million stitches per swimsuit. This gives it that crinkly texture on the outside, with a smooth ribbing on the inside that feels soft on the skin. These elements hide the amount of stretch in the material, allowing it to expand on each wearer, forming to their body’s contours. It also gives it a thicker feeling, which we preferred compared to our other swimwear.
“I like that it was textured rather than smooth, so it hid any lumps and bumps and, again, was really flattering,” one editor says. Three others also noted their preference for the high-quality, thicker material, with one calling it “very forgiving.”
And even with all that stretch, we found the suits to be quite supportive. One editor wore the bikini under clothes to play pickleball and felt it kept its shape. Meanwhile, another shares that she wore hers to the beach: “Surprisingly, I felt supported, and this was especially the case when I swam in the ocean on a rough day and didn’t feel concerned about the swimsuit shifting places!”
One thing to note, though, is that not all the swimsuits may feel so soft. An editor that tried the one-piece in Lurex Navy/Silver noticed a difference in texture compared to the solid-colored crinkle material of her bikini. “The silver thread throughout [the Lurex Navy/Silver suit] was rough to wear for extended periods if you have sensitive skin or texture issues,” she says.
As far as maintenance goes, the brand says to always rinse your suit after swimming in chlorine and avoid exposing the suits to heat (like jacuzzis, saunas or a dryer) because the chemicals in chlorine and high temperatures can damage the color and material. This seems a bit fussy, but we followed these guidelines as well as the wash instructions, and none of us had problems with the color of it afterward. “I had no issues with colors bleeding in the wash or the fabric suddenly shrinking, which can happen easily with lower-quality suits,” one tester says.
Flattering silhouettes
Both swimsuit styles were a hit for their curve-complementing silhouettes. I personally loved the cut of the one-piece with its high leg and low back silhouette. Ultimately, I was outnumbered, though. After polling the six of us, four testers stated that they liked the bikini over the one-piece.
“I can’t believe I’m saying this, as I am truly a one-piece kinda gal, but I loved the fit of the bikini,” one editor says. “It fit perfectly and most importantly, the bottoms did not cause a muffin top. Usually, bikini bottoms are too loose and hang too low, or they accentuate my mid-section in all the wrong ways. These did not and I was really pleasantly surprised.”
Other editors also noted that they liked how they could adjust the fit of the bikini bottoms by simply pulling the waist up or down into the preferred place. However, the bikini top lost a few points for running a bit smaller in the chest — a couple testers felt like they were spilling out of the top a bit, but it still gave decent coverage where it was necessary.

The material traps sand
While we loved how the fabric felt wet and dry, those of us who hit the beach in the suits quickly realized one drawback of the material: It traps sand in all its crinkly crevices.
“I didn’t notice until I put the bathing suits in the wash and found tons of sand in the washer and all over my other clothes,” one editor says. “Since the fabric compresses, you really have to shake out the sand while stretching the fabric.”
The straps didn’t stay put
Across the board, we found that the straps were a bit too long and tended to slip off our shoulders, especially with the one-piece. It wasn’t a big deal, and with some adjusting they’d stay put for a decent amount of time, but it does seem like a general fit issue. Adjustable straps would’ve easily fixed this.
The price
We all shared the same initial reaction to the prices of the suits (over $250 for a swimsuit? Yeah right!) but after testing them, the group had mixed feelings. For some, they ultimately weren’t worth the hefty price tag. For that cost, two editors reasoned, the suits should fit absolutely perfectly, replace their other swimwear and last for years. There’s also the cost-per-wear factor: The suits could be worth it if you spend a lot of time at the beach or pool, but if you only slip on a swimsuit a few times per year, there are far more affordable options.
For other editors, though, the next-to-custom fit and high-quality feel justified the price. “I usually would never pay this much for a swimsuit or bikini, but after trying them out and seeing how comfortable and flattering they are, I would be comfortable spending this much and seeing it as an investment piece,” one editor says.
“Not having to worry about how I’ll look in a bathing suit every summer and how it will fit me is worth the price,” another adds.
Bottom line
Overall, the Hunza G swimsuits were a win for us. We all felt confident wearing them, and that’s really the most important part about finding a great swimsuit. Shopping for bathing suits can be anxiety inducing and uncomfortable, but those feelings were eliminated as soon as we tried on Hunza G’s crinkly suits. We love that they’ll last in our summer wardrobes for multiple years and stay loyal to us even if our bodies change size and shape.
