Five years after “Suits” fans watched Louis Litt become number one at the firm, Rick Hoffman is back in court,?but this time not as the ballet-loving, mud bath enthusiast. Amidst renewed interest in the legal drama series and news of a spin-off, the “Suits” alum recently starred in e.l.f. Cosmetics’ game day ad “Judge Beauty,” in which overpriced makeup was the center of debate.
The beauty brand’s commercial — which plays on the popular, 25-season-long courtroom show “Judge Judy” — features a star-studded cast that includes Judge Judy Sheindlin and the “Thanksgiving” actor’s former “Suits” co-stars Sarah Rafferty and Gina Torres.
Hoffman tells CNN Underscored that meeting the iconic TV judge, whom he describes as “unbelievably personable” and “a sweetheart,” left him starstruck. He also says that being on set again with his former castmates was an experience he won’t forget and likens working with Rafferty and Torres to working with family.
When it comes to his own approach to skin care, Hoffman admits that looking after his skin was something he’d never taken that seriously because he’d been told from a young age that he has nice skin. The actor shares that since working with e.l.f., he’s begun to incorporate some of its cruelty-free products into his grooming routine.
Below, Hoffman lists six of his affordable grooming picks for CNN Underscored.
Hoffman loves using this lotion, which has a tropical coconut scent, to moisturize his arms, neck, face and head. Available in a dozen different fragrances, the body moisturizer is made with cold-pressed organic seed oils and formulated with vitamins A, B, C and E.
Sticking with the coconut theme, Hoffman pairs this shower gel with the oatmeal and shea butter body wash from St. Ives. Formulated with plant-based cleansers, the cruelty-free body wash is also free of parabens.
Hoffman shares that he’s never had much use for lip balms but has recently started reaching for this $7 lip mask. Formulated with hyaluronic acid, squalane and castor seed oil, the conditioning lip product promises to hydrate lips overnight and comes with an applicator for ease of use.
Hoffman, who takes his oral hygiene very seriously, says that during his time on “Suits,” there was never an incident where a castmate got a whiff of bad breath. His go-to for long-lasting, fresh breath? This Listerine Cool Mint Mouthwash, which he uses daily.
The combination of this toothpaste and Listerine’s mouthwash gives Hoffman the confidence to not worry about his breath for hours. Noting that the toothpaste is strong with a pleasant aftertaste, Hoffman says that using it with the Listerine mouthwash could “take you through the day,” though he still brushes three times daily.
Once the weather warms up, the actor plans on using e.l.f. Cosmetics’ sprayable SPF 45 sunscreen to protect his skin from UV damage. Infused with ingredients like watermelon fruit extract and prickly pear seed oil, the product doubles as a setting spray and has a nonsticky formula that won’t leave a white cast.
