An 8-year-old soccer fan who enjoys playing video games. Young-adult siblings at a desert music festival. A daughter hoping to see her terminally ill mother again.

These are a few of the 116 people who have been freed since their capture by Hamas on October 7 in a surprise attack by the militant group on southern Israel. Most of the hostages were released as part of a short-lived hostage-and-ceasefire deal agreed between Hamas and Israel that lasted November 24 to December 1.

Four captives were rescued on June 8 — eight months after they were abducted from the Nova music festival — in an Israeli military operation in central Gaza that Gazan health authorities said killed more than 270 people and injured about 700 others.

There have been just three successful hostage rescue operations by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) during the current conflict with Hamas. Israeli soldiers in December shot and killed three Israeli hostages in Gaza after misidentifying them as threats.

Here are the names and details of the freed hostages, with their ages on October 7 as reported by family and local press.
