Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis has dropped out of the 2024 presidential race.
Once considered a rising GOP star, DeSantis announced Sunday, January 21, that he would be ending his campaign.
"If there was anything I could do to produce a favorable outcome, more campaign stops, more interviews, I would do it, but I can't ask our supporters to volunteer their time and donate their resources if we don't have a clear path to victory. Accordingly, I am today suspending my campaign," DeSantis said.
DeSantis has been Florida's governor since 2019. He won a second term in November.
DeSantis, a graduate of Yale University and Harvard Law School, started his career in the US Navy before moving into politics. He was elected to Congress in 2012 and served in the US House of Representatives until 2018.
