Sam Bird celebrates the ultimate start to the 2017-18 Formula E season, winning the inaugural Hong Kong race. It was part of a season-opening doubleheader.

Audi driver Di Grassi claimed his first victory of the season in Zurich.

Di Grassi (center, in cap) celebrated with the entire Audi Sport team after his Zurich victory. The Brazilian would finish second in the drivers' championship at the end of the season.

He led an Audi one-two finish in the first race of a New York doubleheader -- the finale to the season.

The title race was also settled on that day -- with one race to spare. Jean-Eric Vergne celebrated with his Techeetah team after collecting enough points to win the championship.

Vergne -- who won four of the 12 races of the season -- finished with 198 points, 54 points ahead of Di Grassi.

Vergne triumphed for France just one day before his country beat Croatia to win football's World Cup final.

To top it off, Vergne crowned a superb season by winning the final race. Season five will begin on December 15 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
